HATS OFF TO TEACHERS - WORLD TEACHERS' DAY
On World Teachers' Day, St Laurence's students showed their appreciation for our incredible educators who inspire, support, and empower them every day. Students wore special, favourite, or even crazy, funny, and homemade hats as symbols of gratitude, reflecting the strong bond between our wonderful teachers and the bright young minds they nurture. The teachers were especially thankful for the thoughtful morning tea treats provided by a number of parents and the P&F executive team, which added an extra touch of kindness to their day. Thank you to our dedicated teachers for your unwavering passion in shaping the future of our students!
YEAR 4 - 6 GIRL TALK - PARENT EDUCATION SESSION TONIGHT
We invite you to attend a Parent Session to complement our Girl Talk program, which we have been running with the Year 5 girls. We are also opening this session to parents and carers of girls in Year 4 and Year 6, as the information presented will be highly relevant and useful for these age groups as well.
We are offering a condensed session of the Tuning into Kids program, which teaches parents and carers the principles of Emotionally Intelligent Parenting. This evidence-based approach will help you better understand your child’s emotions and strengthen your relationship with them.
The session will be facilitated by Amy Welbourne, a counsellor and trained Tuning into Kids facilitator, on Monday, 4th November from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.

KINDER ORIENTATION - DAY ONE
On Wednesday, we were delighted to welcome our Kindergarten Class of 2025 for the first day of their Orientation Program at St Laurence’s School. Excitement was in the air as our Year 4 students met their future Kinder Buddies, a special partnership that fosters support and connection for our newest students. These Buddies play a vital role in helping Kindergarten students feel comfortable and confident as they begin their journey at our school, and Year 4 students embrace this responsibility with enthusiasm and care. The new Kindergarten students will continue to visit each week over the next three weeks, building familiarity with their new environment and friendships with their Buddies. We look forward to seeing the wonderful friendships and memories these budding relationships will create!
MINI MARKET DAY
Date: Thursday, 14th November, 2024
Where: St Laurence’s School playground
Time : After recess at 11:10am until lunch 1:10pm (combined lunch on this day)
What to wear: Out-of-uniform- Joggers and School Hat are compulsory
Bring: a bag with your name on it, to put all your prizes and purchases in
Raising Money for: Mercy Works and Catholic Mission.
Set-up : Children will set up businesses in class. They will design posters to advertise their product. They will source all equipment/prizes etc for their stall, determine the cost for their product and work out a timetable so that everyone also gets a turn to look at other stalls. They will also use the microphone to attract buyers!
Vouchers: Because a lot of money is involved in many cases, we will have a voucher system. As soon as the children go into class after the liturgy on the 14th they will buy vouchers from their teacher. One voucher costs 50c. The children will write their name on the back of each voucher in case they are lost. The vouchers are then pinned onto the children’s tops. When the children go to a stall they pay using a voucher. Leftover vouchers will be considered a donation and are not refundable. Extra vouchers may be purchased at a table set up just outside the office.
Parent Helpers: Some stalls (especially Kinder and Year 1) may need a little help from an adult. Please advise your child’s teacher if you are able to help.
Families are very welcome to join their children on the day.
INFANTS STUDENTS MAKING A SPLASH AT RSL POOL
Over the past two weeks, our Infant students enjoyed swimming lessons at the RSL indoor pool four times each week. The program focussed on building essential water safety skills and helping students gain confidence in the water. Guided by the expert instructors from Dubbo RSL Aquatic & Health Club, our young swimmers made excellent progress, developing both technique and self-assurance. We’re grateful to the dedicated instructors for their expertise and support in helping our students become more capable and confident swimmers.
ALL SAINTS DAY MASS
Our Religion Ministers and Student Representative Council (SRC) led us in a heartfelt celebration of All Saints Day, bringing together our school and St Laurence’s Parish community. All Saints Day is a special occasion to honour all saints in heaven and reflect on our own call to live with purpose and compassion. During the Mass, we were reminded of this shared call to strive towards lives of kindness and virtue. Our Religion Ministers and SRC, who play a valuable role in supporting the religious life of our school, embody these qualities and serve as wonderful role models. They truly live out our school motto, "Love Is The Way," inspiring others through their dedication and service to our community.
100, 150 & 200 NIGHTS OF READING SUPERSTARS
More students happy to be checking off 100, 150, and now 200 nights of home reading last week! We love celebrating reading at St Laurence's and encourage our students to develop a love and enthusiasm for reading. When students achieve 100, 150, 200, 250 and 300 nights of Home Reading they are rewarded with a special book prize from my Book Box.
STUDENTS SHINE IN FROZEN JNR
Congratulations to our talented students Elsie, Kate, Martha, Mary, Isla, Audrey, Sophia, and Adelaide, who performed in the Dubbo Drama Club's production of Frozen Jr. at the Dubbo Regional Theatre over the weekend. Gospel Focus
The poor widow has put in more than all
In Mark 12:38-44, Jesus observes people giving offerings at the temple and points out a poor widow who, though she has very little, gives all that she has. Jesus highlights her sacrifice to show that true generosity is not about the size of the gift but the heart behind it. He teaches us that God sees and values our intentions—our willingness to give, even when it is hard. In our lives, we’re invited to show love and kindness in small ways, giving our time, energy, and compassion, no matter how modest. Through the widow’s example, Jesus reminds us that acts of love done with sincerity and humility are precious in God’s eyes. May we be inspired to give not just from our abundance, but from our hearts.
Year 2 Reconciliation Retreat - Wednesday, 6th November (9.30 am to 1.00 pm) our Year 2 students will be going to St. Brigid's Church to participate in a pre-reconciliation retreat. - We follow adult directions
- We speak kindly to others
- We listen to others
- We wear the correct school uniform
- We use our manners
- We respect other people’s space
- We respect the uniqueness of others
- We are quiet around classrooms
