St. Laurence’s Primary incorporates a response to intervention (RTI) framework that targets the specific learning needs of students.
RTI at St Laurence’s Catholic Primary School consists of three tiers that include both large and small groups, as well as one-on-one tutoring for those students that need more intensive intervention. While the RTI framework includes students throughout K-6, there is an emphasis on K-2 in order to maximise our school resources in terms of impact through prevention and early intervention.
Initial referral to the RTI intervention process comes from data based on universal screening of all students. Once students are identified, the RTI team will gather necessary data and conduct additional assessments as needed. The RTI team will then determine the appropriate tier for instructional support and develop an intervention plan with appropriate goals.
